Lt in Territorial Army

Lincoln College, Oxford University –– read law – goalkeeper for Oxford.

Became briefly engaged to Wrigley chewing gum heiress Betty Offield (Wrigley)

Worked as Journalist - Reporter, Assistant News Editor & Film Critic for Morning Post. Contributor to Evening News, Sunday Times & Daily Express etc. Also wrote & Produced Plays for "The White Rose Players" Harrogate.

Left Fleet Street for writing contract with Alexander Korda

1939-1942

Sept 1st – 2nd WORLD WAR Royal Artillery Captain 69th Field Regiment, R.A. July 1940 Defending Iceland.

1942

Married Margot Isobel Gough, youngest daughter Professor William Gough (Leeds Royal Infirmary) & Agnes Crane Fraser (Sister). 2 children, Suilven (Sylvan) and Jonathan. Margot’s 1st cousin - Lord Fraser of Kilmorach was created a life peer due to work under 6 Prime Ministers in research department of the Home office, and as Deputy Chairman Conservative Party).

1942

Jack's book "Sabu of the Elephants" published.

1937-1948

Wrote 14 first feature films for London Films,
RKO, Ealing, ABPC & British National
